CMU Basics | Standards

Desert Block manufactures its products to meet or exceed applicable standards of the Uniform Building Code (UBC) and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). These standards define characteristics of strength and quality. Which standard applies to a particular product may depend upon its configuration and/or use.

The following standards are generally applicable:

Hollow and Solid Loadbearing CMU:

UBC Standard No. 21-4, Grade N
ASTM C 90

Concrete Building Brick (See Components):

UBC Standard No. 21-3, Grade S
UBC Standard No. 21-3, Grade N (for OSA)

Segmental Retaining Wall Units (See Keystone™ Retaining Wall Systems):

ASTM C 1372-97
