ABOUT STEVE STONE
Steve Stone (born Steve Lamarche) has lived in California most of his adult life. He has always been interested in music. He has lived a colorful life. In his youth he spent a year hitchhiking around the country playing guitar and "singing for his supper'. During this time he haunted some of the same coffee houses that Dylan ,and other notables frequented such as the gaslite in Greenwich Village and the Fifth Peg in Chicago.

During this time he was told quite often he resembled Paul McCartney. " I was basically homeless ,for over a year, it was the experience of a lifetime". He said. He worked odd jobs such as a street vendor at Mardi Gras in New Orleans and a house sitter for employees of the Ringling Bros. Circus in Chicago.

In the process of time he moved to Los Angeles..
The impact of his past travels left him with the inclination to get involved in social work, he became active with an urban outreach in Van Nuys that fed and housed the homeless, Because of his musical interests he was asked to play keyboards for a gospel group. He was teased on occasion for performing like Paul McCartney. He was even jokingly called brother Paul McCartney.

" One nite I got a call from a guy named John Staples" ( John Staples was arguably the most 'dead on' John Lennon impersonator in the business.) "He asked me if I would consider being his partner in a Lennon-McCartney tribute act"...

So...
In 1995 'Staples and Stone' -Lennon -McCartney tribute
act was born.

'Staples and Stone' was an immediate success , at least from the standpoint of "the look". They got huge recognition everywhere they went. "It's Spooky" was the catch phrase heard everywhere they were seen together. "I got into it" Steve said "it was basically a blast" "John became my tutor for the songs, I became his tutor for promoting "the look". We made VIP appearances at the Hollywood House of Blues (complete with white limo) and also at the Costa Mesa Performing Arts Center (where we were thronged Beatlemania style!) I helped John get an audition to promote the sale of (the real) John Lennon's white grand piano. We performed at the Reel awards in Hollywood.

For three years Staples and Stone performed in and around Hollywood as Lennon and McCartney. Then tragically John Staples (like the real John Lennon) suffered an untimely death.
Following Johns death Steve took a break from live performing, and considered retiring altogether.

He did however participate in the following as Paul McCartney without performing live music.
He appeared at the Amgen company picnic in Thousand Oaks CA
He appeared at the Ventura county fair
He was featured at a KTLA ch7 news event and interviewed by George Pennachio
He was featured at a private party for a principal at Fox TV
Participated in a presidential spoof in Century City CA
His 'stills' appeared in the movie Masters of Disguise starring Dana Carvey
He was the only "Paul McCartney" lookalike featured in the book "You've got the look"- the 'how to' celebrity Lookalike guide by Denise Bella-Vlasis .

He appeared at a Beatles festival in San Francisco.
Steve's friends and family encouraged him to continue performing , so, Following 9-11 Steve offered to play McCartney's "freedom song' as a memorial to the victims on a benefit basis , which he did in and around Hollywood ."That's basically what started me doing live performances again-if it weren't for that I might not have ever performed as McCartney again" Steve said.

Then through a curious turn of events Steve ended up with a ticket to Paul McCartney's Back in the USA tour.(He had never seen him' live' before.)

Steve said "There was one point during the concert that I came to realize the truly legendary status of Paul McCartney. He was playing a Uekelele in memory of the late George Harrison. He was playing the song 'something' with no backup musicians; you could hear a pin drop, frozen in time were forty years of memories. Truly no other performer could have come close to speaking to the spirit of so many people in so many ways. I decided then and there to do my part to keep the Legend alive."

Since then Steve has resumed his live performing, creating
'McCartney Tribute.' He has recently been featured at venues in Las Vegas including the Imperial Palace and in Orlando Florida at the Sunburst convention.

If you would like to "Celebrate the Legendary," Steve Stone will do his best to capture the spirit of Paul McCartney for you, Call now.
